Buy Recovery Right (RRT)

Recovery Right Tokens (RRTs) are a unique form of digital asset representing a conditional, limited-recourse obligation from the Bitfinex Group. These tokens serve as notional credits that hinge entirely on the recovery of losses incurred during the theft incident in August 2016. RRTs rank below all other claims against the Bitfinex Group, including those related to the aforementioned losses.

Originally, RRTs were established to encourage BFX token holders to transition to equity. In the event that stolen bitcoins are recovered from Bitfinex, the repayment process prioritizes BFX token holders, with any remaining recovered bitcoins then allocated to RRT holders. As of April 3, 2017, all BFX tokens have been either converted into equity or redeemed, marking a significant milestone in their lifecycle.
