What sets NPC apart is its clever inspiration from the non-playable character meme. It introduces an ERC20 token whose total supply mirrors the global human population as of July 26, 2023. Each token can be transformed into an NFT at a 1:1 ratio, giving it a unique identity that can be traded on decentralized exchanges like Uniswap (as an ERC20) and NFT platforms (as an ERC1155).

This innovative approach combines the characteristics of both NFTs and fungible tokens, leading to the creation of what is termed a meme fungible token (MFT). NPC bridges two traditionally distinct liquidity markets, making it possible for a broader audience to participate in the cultural landscape through NFTs.

Users can easily toggle between formats on the platform's dApp, allowing them to "respawn" as an NFT or "transform" into a meme coin. However, the most efficient trading format remains the ERC20.

The inception of this project began with experimentation using NFT automated market makers (AMMs) like Sudoswap, identifying that ERC1155 tokens had untapped potential. Recognizing that the prevalent 10k+ profile picture NFT collections had reached a saturation point, constrained by exclusivity and gas fees, NPC aims to illustrate how communities can expand to millions using the ERC1155 standard while enhancing liquidity by making these tokens fungible as ERC20s.

Looking ahead, the project plans to introduce a customization tool that allows users to accessorize their NPCs, with options to export these personalized creations for use as profile pictures. Furthermore, efforts are underway to develop additional infrastructure that will better integrate the liquidity of ERC20 and ERC1155 tokens, with NPC serving as a prime example.
