apyUSD (APYUSD) is a specialized, yield-generating digital asset operating on the Ethereum blockchain, issued by the Apyx protocol. Designed as an ERC-4626 standard vault token, apyUSD provides a unique avenue for passive earnings by wrapping apxUSD, a USD-denominated stablecoin.
The underlying apxUSD stablecoin derives its stability and value from preferred equity shares issued by Digital Asset Treasury (DAT) companies, and it is independently listed on CoinGecko. Users acquire apyUSD by depositing their apxUSD into the Apyx protocol’s dedicated yield vault.
Once deposited, the vault actively accumulates cash dividends generated from the underlying DAT preferred shares. This income is then distributed to apyUSD holders through a gradual appreciation of the apyUSD-to-apxUSD exchange rate over time. This innovative mechanism allows holders to earn yield passively, without the need for active staking or manual claim processes, functioning similarly to established models like Maker's sDAI and Ethena's sUSDe.
Both apxUSD and apyUSD are robust ERC-20 tokens on the Ethereum network. The Apyx protocol enhances its utility through strategic integrations, partnering with Pendle for advanced yield tokenization and trading opportunities, and with Morpho to facilitate its use as lending collateral. Furthermore, the security of the underlying DAT preferred share collateral is ensured through institutional-grade custody services provided by Anchorage Digital and BitGo.
